● Stabilizer feet check
● Back up alarm check
● Seat belt check
● Service brake check
How to Perform Daily Service Checks
Conducting a daily service check of your Cat Backhoe Loader will ensure that your machine remains in working condition and operates at optimal performance.

Begin your daily service check by:
Step 1: Prepare Machine
Begin your daily service check by ensuring that your Cat Backhoe Loader and bucket are firmly on the ground with the stabilizer legs raised and the rear bucket curled. Next, locate the hood release inside the cab and open the engine bay.

Step 2: Coolant Level Check
Locate the coolant tank within the engine compartment and ensure that the level is filled midway within the tank.

Step 3: Engine Oil Level Check
Locate the engine oil dipstick, remove, and gently wipe. Next, reinsert the dipstick and recheck the engine oil level. Use the engine fill to add additional oil as needed.

Step 4: Transmission Oil Level Check
Locate the purple valve within the engine compartment. Ensure that the machine has been running for at least one minute before checking the oil level in order to allow the oil to properly circulate around the torque converter and oil cooler. Oil level should be midlevel.

Step 5: Hydraulic Oil Level Check
Locate the hydraulic oil gauge within the compartment. If the oil level is too low, top-off the oil using the oil fill by simply removing the cap and adding fresh oil until the gauge reads the appropriate oil level. Re-secure the cap once finished.

Step 6: Prepare Machine for Greasing/Greasing the Machine
Position the machine for greasing by:

● Phasing out the bucket in order to allow the loader arms to become accessible; bucket should rest face down on the ground.
● Put down stabilizer legs (rear of the machine).
● Release boom lock in order to stretch out the rear of the machine; teeth should rest gently on the ground.
● Keep the engine running.
● Locate and prepare grease gun (stored alongside the caddy of the machine).

After the machine is properly positioned for greasing, begin the greasing process by locating the grease joint at the bottom of the MP cylinder bucket.

Continue to grease all cylinders throughout the machine, including the:

● Link cylinder
● Loader cylinder
● Front cells
● Center pin
● Bottom lift cylinder
● Top loader and tube
● Tilt cylinder
● Swing frame cylinders
● Boom walk
● Top swing joint
● Side shift cylinder
● Boom boot/top of boom cylinder
● Stick cylinder
● Bucket cylinder and link
● Stick nose
● Quick coupler

Reminder: Grease joints and cylinders on both sides of the machine.

Step 7: Stabilizer Feet Check
Visually inspect stabilizer feet for wear, damage, and debris. Street pads should appear in good condition and bolts should be securely fastened and undamaged.

Step 8: Backup Alarm Check
Ensure the backup alarm is properly functioning by turning on the machine and placing it in reverse. Verify that the backup alarm sounds as the machine begins to reverse.

Step 9: Seat Belt Check
Verify the seat belt is in good working condition and can be fastened snugly across the seat.

Step 10: Service Brake Check
Position the machine within a safe environment that is free of people and other items that could be damaged. Enter the cab and turn on the machine. Place the machine in third gear, firmly press on the brake, and slowly increase the RPM.

The machine should not move while in third gear.
Reminders
Finish your daily service check by checking the tire pressure on your machine. Tire pressure guidelines can be found within the Operator’s Manual.
Recap
Performing daily service checks on your Cat Backhoe Loader will ensure that your machine is operating properly and in good working order. Additionally, conducting daily service checks on your machine can help reduce repair costs and machine downtime.
